A beautiful antique Scottish brooch from the mid Victorian era crowned with a golden brown paste stone in the centre that resembles a large 8ct Cairngorm. It’s haloed by a border of striped Montrose agate petals inlaid in a round silver base with intricate engraving in between.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
It’s in excellent condition and a great collector’s piece.
